HIRING RANGE: $10.00/Hour

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.

Supervises baseball and softball activities at the Farmington Sports Complex during the season.

Works under the supervision of the Recreation Sports Supervisor.

Supervises and schedules baseball and softball score keepers and performs score keeping duties when required.

Works closely with Recreation Assistant Sports in scheduling scorekeepers and officials.

Works closely with baseball and softball associations.

Works closely with tournament directors in securing score keepers for weekend tournaments.

Responsible for opening press boxes and turning on lights at ballfields at dusk.

Responsible for the delivery of various paperwork and supplies to and from the Recreation Center using a city vehicle.  Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.

Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.

Extensive background checks required.

Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years or state of current residency.

Background in recreation and experience in dealing with the public.

Advanced public relations skills necessary.

Ability to give suitable assignments and instruction to employees; to work harmoniously with associates, general public, and organizations.

Must have a telephone at residence.

Ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays March through October.

Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.

Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.

Ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Telephone, mobile or portable radio, automobile, cash register, calculator, various sports equipment used in recreation.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
