HIRING RANGE: $14.1514-$21.6019

DAYS WORKED: M-F (Weekends As Needed)

HOURS WORKED: 7:00-3:30 (varied)

TYPE OF POSITION: Regular, Full-Time

JOB DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Works under the direction of the Park's Foreman or Worker II-Construction.

Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.

Performs tasks related to the construction of new City facilities and repairs to existing City facilities.

Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to perform carpentry skills, plumbing repairs and installation of irrigation systems.

Performs minor electrical repairs.

Must possess the ability to read blueprints.

Requires knowledge and skills to operate heavy equipment including but not limited to tractors, backhoes and dump trucks.

Works extensively with small hand tools including saws and drills.

Must dig ditches and work with hand tools including shovels and rakes.

Required to work independently and on own initiative.

Required to supervise the work of seasonal employees.

Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.

Attendance at work is an essential function of this position

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.

This position requires a baseline audiometric examination.

Extensive background checks required.

Must possess a valid New Mexico driver's license, with acceptable driving record for past three years or state of current residency. and have the ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License within 60 days after employment begins.

Must have previous experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical repair and irrigation sufficient to perform duties of job.

Experience in operating a variety of heavy equipment including but not limited to backhoes, tractors and dump trucks sufficient to perform requirement of job.

Contractor irrigation license preferred but not required.

Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.

Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions.

Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.

Ability to meet deadlines.

This position has the responsibility to participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety program.

Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Motorized vehicles and equipment, including pickup truck, utility truck, backhoes, tractors, dump trucks, saws, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and works occasionally with chemicals such as paint, lacquer, and paint thinner.

The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

Requires the ability to work outdoors in extreme weather including heat, cold, rain, snow, sleet and hail.
