JOB POSITION #151: PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT COMMITTEE

WORK LOCATION:  Fire Department

HIRING RANGE:  Additional $.25 an hour

PAY CLASS:   Tech Pay

JOB DUTIES

Resumes submitted without a City of Farmington application will not be considered in our job selection process.

The Duties outlined below are in addition to duties performed in the currently held position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Works as a member of the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) Committee.

Participates in and coordinates annual PPE Inspections.

Coordinates and tracks proper procedures in regards to shift canvasing to assure cleanliness and rotations of individual members gear after an IDLH exposure. Keeps records of these evaluations.

Operates specialized tools, computers, software and web based tools to track maintenance and life cycle.

Attends all scheduled committee meetings.

Stays current on industry and NFPA recommendations and all changes and recalls to FFD issued PPE.

Assists in the training of Farmington Fire Department personnel.

Inspects, maintains, and repairs equipment.

Maintains a variety of records and data regarding NFPA and Department standards and requirements.

Must successfully complete a Department approved NFPA 1851 standards for cleaning and inspection course

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

On occasion serves on various committees.

May be assigned to, or assist with special projects as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have completed at least one (1) year as a firefighter in good standing with the Farmington Fire Department at the time of selection.

Must attend and successfully complete a Department approved NFPA 1851 standards for cleaning and inspection course, to meet the requirements of the PPE Committee.  Documentation of the successful completion of all training will be required prior to receiving add pay.

Must attend all scheduled meetings/trainings to remain on the team.

Failure to meet criteria may result in dismissal from the team or loss of add pay.
